Arts integration research.
The effort began with extensive research about how other organizations and programs were defining arts integration. Although many provided excellent descriptions, none totally fit CETA's vision. After months of research and endless conversations and debates, several key ideas were identified and the definition began to take form.
Despite these promising developments, a number of systematic reviews and meta-analyses have attempted to make sense out of the wide variation in contexts and methodology in the arts integration research base, and a common conclusion is that rigorous research is still lacking (e.g., Goff & Ludwig, 2013; Podlozny, 2000; Robinson, …the research literature examined in this thesis showed that arts integration can be a valuable outlet for both students and teachers, yet not always utilized due to high stakes testing, budgetary concerns and time constraints in the elementary classroom.
